Song Joong Ki Delights Sick Children With Pizza Party
Hallyu star Song Joong Ki made the sick children at a Seoul hospital smile when he held a pizza party for them.
The 31-year-old "Descendants of the Sun" star recently visited the children at Seoul National University Children's Hospital as a volunteer for Domino's Pizza project.
His fellow star and bromance partner for the Domino's Pizza CF, Park Bo Gum, also reportedly visited a children's hospital over the holidays.
According to Soompi, Song Joong Ki personally handed out slices of the Domino's Pizza to the patients, families, and staff. He also spent time with them to share an uplifting message and even donated 100 million won (approximately US $85,905) to the hospital as a "Hope Sharing Fund."
Aside from this, the handsome actor is known to have been involved in past charitable works.
He donated his appearance fees last year for the show "Hurry Up, Brother," the Chinese version of the popular SBS variety show "Running Man" where he was a former cast member.
The Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation also revealed through their blog that Song Joong Ki is one of their regular donators since 2011.
They added that the donation varied from the actor's own money, his salary from the documentary "Tears of the Antarctic" or rice wreaths from press conferences. Such donations have helped more than 10 kids receive treatment for childhood cancer.
Song Joong Ki's management label Blossom Entertainment confirmed the blog's reports.
"What was posted on Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation's blog is all true," Soompi quoted a representative from Blossom Entertainment as saying. "Song Joong Ki wanted to do this quietly, but it seems like it was revealed through the blog post. He's been donating regularly since 2011."
Song Joong Ki's "Descendants of the Sun" leading lady Song Hye Kyo is also known as one of the most charitable Korean celebrities.
