'Kingdom Hearts 3' Release Date: Development Progress Dropped by Tetsuya Nomura; No Specific Launch Date Set Yet
Over a decade after the release of "Kingdom Hearts 2," fans are still waiting for news regarding the release of "Kingdom Hearts 3." While there is still no specific launch date announced, director Tetsuya Nomura has dropped some updates on the title's development.

Speaking with Famitsu in a recent interview, Tetsuya Nomura discussed more of how development's been rolling for the highly anticipated sequel in the "Kingdom Hearts" series. Kingdom Hearts Insider translated the interview for English-speaking fans to understand.
In the said interview, Nomura explained, "On one hand, there are worlds that are pretty much finished; on the other hand, there are worlds we still haven't even touched." While this could mean that the development for "Kingdom Hearts 3" may take longer than expected, the director clarified that the team is working to ensure that they will deliver a "quality" gaming experience for followers of the hit franchise.

Meanwhile, "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue" ranked first in Japan's top selling list for the week of January 9th - January 15th. Siliconera reports that the title sold 137,797 units during its debut week, claiming the top spot in the history of "Kingdom Heart" remixes.
The outlet notes that with all the love and support fans have showered on "KH2.8," it can be safe to conclude that the gaming community is completely ready to get their hands on "Kingdom Hearts 3."
When Will "KH3" be Released?
As mentioned, there is no specific date announced for the release of "Kingdom Hearts 3." Fans aren't too happy about the lack of official word coming from developer Square Enix. On the other hand, a lot of the franchise's followers are still hoping for a 2017 release.
Despite the silence that fans are receiving from Square Enix, it is widely speculated that players will get another good look at "KH3" come the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event on June.
