Kim Hyun Joong’s Ex-Girlfriend Indicted For Lying About Getting Pregnant
Singer-actor Kim Hyung Joong's ex-girlfriend, known only as Miss Choi, is indicted for defamation and fraud after prosecutor's findings revealed she was never pregnant.
The latest saga involving the embittered couple is turning out to be a double-edged sword for Miss Choi as the Seoul Prosecutor's Office announced Wednesday the charges against her.
According to allkpop, the prosecutor's findings revealed she fabricated her claims of miscarriage in December 2014 and the singer's physical assault in May. In addition to this, Miss Choi also allegedly set up her kakao messages and claims of pregnancy in order to make monetary demands.
Miss Choi will be drilled in the upcoming trial in March.
According to Koreaboo, Dispatch's detailed timeline of events revealed that the couple started dating in April 2012. She reportedly spent two weeks in the hospital on May 30, 2014, because of the singer's physical assaults. She spent another six weeks in the hospital on July 12, 2014, because of a bone injury after another physical assault. She filed a case against the singer the following month only to withdraw it in September. They rekindled their relationship shortly afterward and then confirmed Miss Choi's pregnancy January 2015.
The court sided with Kim Hyun Joong last year and sentenced Ms. Choi to pay the singer 100 million KRW (approximately US $850,000).
While Kim Hyun Joong is among the celebrities who'll be discharged from their military duties this year, this ongoing controversy might affect how quickly he'll return to the limelight.
"This year, many male celebrities are returning to society," allkpop quoted a representative from the entertainment industry as saying. "However, a few of those stars have been in controversies, so they are not likely to hasten their return to the entertainment world. They're going to have to move based on the public, so they may still have long hiatuses after their discharge."
