Next-Generation iPhone Will Feature iPhone 4 Stainless Steel Frame, Glass Panels; Apple To Create iPhone 8 With iPhone 4 Design?
Apple is reported to have been eyeing iPhone 4's design to create its 10th anniversary iPhone, which is claimed to be an iPhone 8. Rumors have been circulating around that the tech giant is going to copy iPhone 4 elements for its latest model. Reportedly, the iPhone 8 will feature stainless steel frame from iPhone 4.
iPhone 8 To Abandon Conventional Aluminum Back Cover
Apple is reportedly reviving its stainless steel frame design from iPhone 4 to use as chassis for the upcoming model, iPhone 8. iPhone 4's stainless steel is supplied by Foxconn and Jabil, a US based company. The report says that Apple is ordering the same materials from these companies to be used for the next-generation iPhone.
"The next-generation iPhone is expected to abandon its conventional aluminum back cover design and will adopt a new design using two reinforced glass panels and a metal frame in the middle. The metal bezel will be made of stainless steel using a forging process to enhance its sturdiness and reduce costs and manufacturing time," Digitimes reported.
The production process will involve forging of these materials which are said to be 30-50% cheaper than the present method of processing. This measure will also help increase the stability of quality control.
Rumors Say Apple Is Making Mostly-Glass iPhone
KGI analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple insider stated that the company is preparing for an iPhone with the majority of glass features in terms of design. It was April when he announced that iPhone 8 will showcase glass panels in both front and back. A metal band was said to hold the two faces together.
