Miss Universe 2016 Latest News & Update: Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, Jed Madela Set To Perform Sans Lea Salonga; Pre-Pageant Activities, Schedule Revealed

Millions of fans around the globe are now excited for the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. Now, new reports are claiming that the 88 beauties coming from all parts of the world are said to arrive in the Philippines next Friday, January 13.

CNN Philippines reported that some Miss Universe 2016 contestants will be arriving earlier than the others. More or less three beauties will start to arrive on Saturday while the others will be landing in the country next Friday.

"Two or three will be arriving on (January) 7 but the bulk will be on the 13th... because on the 14th, there will already be an event," Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo has revealed to The Source. The Miss Universe 2016 pre-pageant activities will kick off on January 14, wherein the beauties will have a photo shoot in Boracay.

Another photo shoot will be held in Vigan, Ilocos Sur on January 15. The Miss Universe 2016 contestants are also expected to grace a fashion show showcasing the works of fashion designer Albert Andrada happening on the same day.

All girls will also be meeting President Rodrigo Duterte on January 23. The 88 Miss Universe 2016 contestants are expected to have a courtesy call to Malacañang Palace.

The Miss Universe 2016 coronation night is scheduled on January 30 with Steve Harvey and Ashley Graham as hosts. Local talents such as "The Voice" coaches Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo are said to perform on the said event. Jed Madela is also expected to showcase his singing prowess.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN News reported that Lea Salonga is not performing in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant night. The Broadway Diva has made things clear via a Twitter post, debunking rumors that she is set to perform on the prestigious event.

"I have not been booked to perform at the Miss Universe pageant," Salonga stated. "Plus, I'll already be out of the country. Someone has made a mistake." Meanwhile, an undisclosed Filipina host will also be joining Harvey and Graham.
