Song Hye Kyo to Attend 2016 KBS Drama Awards After 12 years
Hallyu star Song Hye Kyo confirmed she'll be attending the star-studded "2016 KBS Drama Awards" slated December 31.
The 35-year-old actress' attendance to the ceremony's 30th anniversary marks an exciting comeback. The last time Song Hye Kyo attended the event was already 12 years ago when she won several awards for the 2004 manhwa-based romantic comedy series "Full House." This included Popularity Award for an Actress, Top Excellence Award for an Actress and Best Couple with co-star Rain.
This time, Song Hye Kyo is expected to grab the grand awards with another Hallyu star Song Joong Ki for their performance in the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun."
The actress confirmed that she'll be attending the award show Monday when she also donated 10,000 Korean guidebooks to Yong Bong Gil memorial hall in Shanghai, China. She partnered with Prof. Seo Kyeong-deok from Sungsin Women's University.
"I learned that there aren't many Korean guidebooks so I hope this contributes to the increase of visitors to the memorial," Song Hye Kyo told Sports Donga, according to HanCinema.
She celebrated her 20th anniversary in the industry and held a fanmeet November 13 at Coex Auditorium in Seoul. Actors Song Joong Ki and Yooh Ah In made surprise appearances.
Song Hye Kyo made her acting debut in 1996 for the TV drama "First Love." She gained immense popularity in South Korea and throughout Asia and became known as a Hallyu star after her 2000 KBS drama "Autumn in My Heart."
The Laneige and Prada ambassador gained a new surge of popularity, however, after starring in "Descendants of the Sun" and topped Google Search as the most trending South Korean actress.
"Regardless of the success of a drama or film, I will be satisfied if viewers say that my acting skills have progressed and gained more depth," Inquisitr quoted Song Hye Kyo as saying. "I personally think that it is acceptable if I take a step forward and can act with more diverse expressions and feelings. I don't usually paint a big picture on what I'll do in the future. One thing that is clear is that I will do my best in the current place where I am at,"
