PSY Receives Highest Honor From The Corea Image Communication Institute

YouTube has released its "Top 10 Most-Watched K-pop Music Videos" for 2016. As the year comes to an end, the internationally renowned video site has released their annual list of most-watched videos.

Compiling their data from Nov. 24, 2015, up to Nov. 23, 2016, YouTube has come up with the most popular k-pop music during the said period. As expected, YG artist Psy reigns over the list.

Psy's "Daddy" came in first place on the list of the "Top 10 Most-Watched K-pop Music Videos." The song garnered over 200 million views, making his first comeback song in his two years hiatus a grand success. According to Soompi, 90 percent of the views for Psy's "Daddy" came outside of Korea, proving the singer's international popularity.

In the second place is idol group TWICE with their song "Cheer Up." TWICE is known as the rising girl group this year, known for their cheerful songs and cute dances. TWICE's "TT" also made it to the top 5 in the "Top 10 Most-Watched K-pop Music Videos" list and is the sole group to represent JYP Entertainment in this YouTube feat for 2016.

Next up is BTS, who not only got third place with their song "Fire" but also secured three more spots in the list. BTS' "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" gets the seventh place and "Save Me" on ninth spot. These three wins by BTS is just parallel to the idol group's remarkable achievements this year like being ranked number 26 on the "Billboard200 (album chart)." Also, 90 percent of the views for BTS' songs came outside of Korea as well, marking BTS as an internationally renowned idol group.

To represent SM Entertainment in the list, boy group EXO also places on the chart with "Monster" coming in at fourth place and "Lotto" on the tenth place. Also coming with two wins is YG Entertainment's girl group BLACKPINK with "Boombayah" securing the sixth spot and "Whistle" on the eighth place.

Making it to the "Top 10 Most-Watched K-pop Music Videos" in YouTube is a great feat for any idol group who wants to expand their popularity on a global scale. Notably, there is also added pressure and expectations for each of this group to make their achievements on 2017 even grander.
