'My Sassy Girl' Co-Stars Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun Reunite in 'The Legend of the Blue Sea'
Jun Ji Hyun will finally have a reunion with actor Cha Tae Hyun on the Nov. 24th episode in "The Legend of the Blue Sea." The 40-year-old actor is set to make a cameo in the fantasy drama that comes with a scene with his previous leading lady.
Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun were cast opposite each other in the 2001 hit Korean movie "My Sassy Girl." The romantic comedy film told the story of Gyun Woo, portrayed by Cha Tae Hyun, a college student who loved to have fun with friends and pick up girls. While riding a subway, he meets a drunk girl named Gianna Jun, portrayed by Jun Ji Hyun. Due to a series of hilarious events, Gyun Woo ends up in a relationship with the self-centered young woman but ends up falling for the sassy girl.
The reunion between Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun in "The Legend of the Blue Sea" was made possible due to writer Park Ji Eun. Cha Tae Hyun previously worked with the writer in the K-drama "The Producers." Now being the screenwriter of "The Legend of the Blue Sea," Cha Tae Hyun's cameo and 15-year reunion with Jun Ji Hyun happened.
As reported by Soompi, the staff of "The Legend of the Blue Sea" has purportedly observed that Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun displayed an amazing chemistry on set despite only working together for the first time in 15 years.
As Jun Ji Hyun continues to star with Lee Min Ho in the currently highest rated series, Cha Tae Hyun will reportedly come back to star on the small screen in upcoming series "Chief Kim." The KBS drama is expected to air early next year and is set to have an office comedy story about the life of ordinary workers and their ordinary chief.
Meanwhile, fans anticipate Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun's scene together in the SBS drama. "The Legend of the Blue Sea" airs every Wednesday and Thursday 22:00 (KST).
