‘The Legend of the Blue Sea’ beats DOTS on its first episode’s viewer ratings.

Is the new Lee Min Ho, Jun Ji Hyun drama the next big thing in K-Dramaland? That sure looks like it considering how "The Legend of the Blue Sea" beat "Descendants of the Sun" (DOTS) on its first episode's viewer ratings.

The highly anticipated new fantasy romance drama from SBS, "The Legend of the Blue Sea," aired its pilot episode last night with an impressive two digits rating. According to Nielsen Korea, the drama recorded a viewer rating of 16.4% on its pilot episode. That is higher than the phenomenal hit "Descendants of the Sun" which only recorded 14.3% on its first episode. With "The Legend of the Blue Sea" beating DOTS on its pilot episode, it looks like fans are already hooked with this new drama.

On the 1st episode of 'The Legend of the Blue Sea', the drama shows the hilarious first encounters of the two main characters. When the charming but cold con artist (Lee Min Ho) meets the majestic mermaid who knows nothing about the modern world (Jun Ji Hyun), the scenes were rather hilarious. Fans seem to love the two character's chemistry because they have nothing but good reviews for the drama's 1st episode.

Provided that 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' beats DOTS on its 1st episode, it is only expected that it beats the other dramas, as well. Two other dramas that premiered on the very same date, November 16, KBC's "Oh My Geum Bi" and MBC's "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo," only recorded 5.9% and 3.3% respectively.

Will "The Legend of the Blue Sea" create another K-Drama "fever"? Well, that's for the fans to find out in the coming days. But considering the overwhelming support the drama gets on its first episode, that is not impossible to happen.
