Playstation Games Soon to Run in Android and iOS with Sony ForwardWorks

Playstation Games Soon in iOS and Android Devices.

Sony gives hope to Android and iOS users that Playstation games will be soon available in their handsets through ForwardWorks.

This is not the first time Sony teases the public with Playstation games being available in Android devices, iPhones and iPads. The mobile venture of the company has been evident in Playstation Mobile and its release of a Playstation phone called Xperia Play.

Slash Gear reported that iPhone, iPad, smartphones and TV devices powered by Android and iPad are all capable of and compatible with Playstation first and second generation games.

Sony stated that "SIE will vigorously maximize the corporate value and create new business opportunities through the establishment of ForwardWorks." It was disclosed that the company invested 10 million Japanese Yen for the establishment of the company. The board of the newly established company is composed of Atsushi Morita, Andrew House, Hiroshi Ueda and Kazuhiko Ono. The board of the company established in April guaranteed that the team is creating games for smartphones.

Tech Insider reported that the company to be based in Japan will be responsible in leveraging "the intellectual property of the numerous Playstation dedicated software titles and its gaming characters" for smartphone applications. Its operations include planning and development of software, sales and operations, and creation of networks and content services for smart devices.

It was also reported that the operation will focus on applications for Japan and Asia's users. No assurance of extending ForwardWorks effort in the United States has been released yet.

Recently, Nintendo released "Mitomo" which is the company's first smartphone application. The Japan-exclusive application has already earned over a million downloads on its first three days in the market. This supports the claim that Playstation and Nintendo will also do well in the mobile gaming industry.

Playstation launched in Dec. 1994 is composed of video games under the licensing of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
