Samsung brings back flip phones with Galaxy Folder 2.

Flip phones ain't dead yet!

South Korean company Samsung introduced the Folder 2 Android flip phone in China this year.

This smartphone follows the steps of Galaxy Folder released in 2013.

However, critics say that Galaxy Folder 2 can be classified as an entry-level Android smartphone and misses the outstanding features of other Samsung handsets.

This handset is clad with a physical keyboard which allows fast typing and is powered by a 1,950 mAh battery. Compared to the standards of today's handsets, the flip phone's battery is quite small. However, Samsung guaranteed that the battery can keep the phone running on standby for 318 hours.

Galaxy Folder 2 has a 3.8 inch TFT LCD display and 480 x 800 WVGA resolution. It is powered by a 2GB RAM and pretty old school Qualcomm Snapdragon 246 processor.

The modern flip phone carries an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow software, Android Authority reported.

It's internal storage is quite satisfying at 16GB and can be extended up to 128GB with a micro SD card. Taking pictures with this handset will not disappoint users. It is packed with a 8 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel on the front.

International release and pricing of Galaxy Folder 2 have not been announced yet. However, Digital Trends assumed that if Folder 2 will be like the older model, the approximate cost of the handset will be $250. The report also guessed that it is likely that the Android flip phone will only be released in selected Asian countries.

The report also mentioned "Veyron" which is said to be equal to Galaxy S7 but as a flip phone. This handset is rumored to have more power and sleeker look. Release date and pricing are also currently undisclosed.

Aside from Samsung, other brands like Gionee and LG are investing on producing their own flip phones.
