Image sharing app Snapchat got updated to version 9.38 which allows users to create personalized geofilters, pin text on images and view the public stories of users who are not their friends according to a report in Nextweb.

In the latest update Snapchat allows any user to create personalized geofilters for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions. However, the geofilters must be created from Snapchat's Web tool, not in the app itself.

The geofilter gives users the ability to italicize, bold or underline text. In addition users can now pin text to objects. Before users can only pin emoji and stickers, now even text can be pinned.

According to 9to5mac.com "the update brings new customization options for adding captions to images. Users can now highlight the text of captions and change it to bold, italic, and underlined styles. In the past, caption customization has been limited to either normal font or Snapchat's iconic large white text."

Another feature allows users to use Snapchat's selfie lenses. Instead of long pressing on one's face to establish the target area to apply the filter, users can now simply have to tap faces that are sans filter.

Furthermore, users can now finally view stories from other users who are not their friends if the account is public.

In the past one of the biggest complaints about Snapchat is its lack of a discovery feature, similar to Instagram, which could point users to interesting accounts worth following.
