The movie Mission: Impossible 6 has been put on hold according to entertainment news media outlet Deadline.

Negotiation for Higher Pay

The report states that Paramount is negotiating for lower fees with lead actor, Tom Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie, Bad Robot Studios, and Skydance Pictures.

However, action star Tom Cruise is asking Paramount to provide him an offer higher than the one given to him by Universal Studios for taking the lead role in 'The Mummy' reboot, which is set to launch next summer.

Paramount haggled back reasoning that they are only willing to pay Cruise equal to the  salary he received in Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation.

The conflict happened while pre-production work for Mission Impossible 6 was already taking place.

Preproduction Stops

According to Deadline Paramount has already hired 15 and 20 people to design preproduction visual effects for Mission: Impossible 6, while Tom Cruise and scriptwriter-director Christopher McQuarrie had begun outlining the flow of the film.

However, the preproduction employees were ordered to temporarily stop working until pay disputes were settled with all parties involved.

Movie Will Go On

Industry observers highly doubt that Paramount will scrap the film despite the possibility of having to pay its actors and directors higher. Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation was a runaway box office hit and was very profitable for Paramount.

Director  McQuarrie has only entered the early stages of script writing and full-scale production isn't scheduled to commence until seven months later in January 2017 giving Paramount sufficient time to finalize negotiations with Cruise.
