Coldplay's 'A Head Full Of Dreams' Album Headed To UK Top Charts; Super Bowl Show Boosted Sales?
Coldplay's latest album "A Head Full of Dreams" is set to clinch the top spot in UK charts after their performance at the opening of Super Bowl 50.
Following the band's halftime performance at Super Bowl 50, the Chris Martin-led band is now aiming for the top post of the UK albums charts, a report from Billboard dished out.
Coldplay's "A Head Full of Dreams" is their first album to miss the number one in UK charts.
However, a report from NME said that the Official Charts Company are reporting a spike of combined sales "since the band's performance at the Super Bowl 50."
"If the album does make it to the top spot, it will be Coldplay's seventh UK Number One. On its original release in December last year, it was kept off poll position by Adele's '25'," the report noted.
To date, Coldplay's "A Head Full of Dreams" album has already sold 8,000, but came short of its nearest rival from Adele's "25" album.
Meanwhile, the "Best of Bowie" landed on Number 3 while Elton John placed at number 3 with his 31st Top 10 album "Wonderful Crazy Nig
ht."
Adele's "25" and Justin Bieber's "Purpose" are going steady at numbers 4 and 5.
Last weekend, Coldplay top-billed the halftime performance for the Super Bowl 50 where they performed they hit "Viva La Vie," and "Yellow."
The band was accompanied by Beyonce and Bruno Mars who had a mixed performance of "Uptown Funk" and "Single Ladies."
The trio's performance also paved the way to support the LGBT community as the audience took part in holding colored posters which spell out as "Believe in Love."
Amidst the rise on sales of Coldplay's "A Head Full of Dreams" album, the British band was not exempted in criticisms as they have been told that they cannot handle a big crowd.
"Martin's Coldplay has a good ear for pop hooks but, although they tried hard, they had difficulty commanding a stage as big as this," a review from Fox News Latino said.
