'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Recap: Damon Burns Elena Gilbert's Body; What Happens In The Next Episode?
It's only halfway before "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 finale episode finally takes place and it seems like the recent turn of events in the chaotic town of Mystic Falls have gotten more intense than expected.
Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert was put into a coma inside a coffin while the rest of her friends look for a cure to break the spell that ties up her life to her witch best friend Bonnie. However, it just turns out that their search for the cure is not the only problem that needs to be resolved.
In "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 11 recap, the Phoenix stone discovered by Bonnie during the previous episodes is seemingly creating more chaos to the characters, especially to the Salvatore brothers Damon and Stefan.
The Phoenix stone has been trying to create a rift between Damon and Stefan, with the older Salvatore getting nightmares of attempting to kill Caroline Forbes, who happens to be Stefan's new love interest in the series.
Speaking of nightmares, the stone keeps haunting Damon as he continues to get hallucinations and seeing his Civil War friend everywhere, who keeps reminding him that he's truly monster no matter how much he tries to ged rid of his bad side.
To shut off his hallucination, Damon poured a gasoline over his body and put it on fire. Out of consciousness, it was his beloved girlfriend Elena Gilbert set on fire and not him.
As shown in the episode 10 of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7, Damon was quickly forgiven for his unusual actions with Stefan even saying that they all understood what he has been going through.
While this might be the case that everyone is hoping for, the younger Salvatore later realized that the stone is relaying a message that says he will become happy with his brother around. Just like what real brothers would do, Stefan assured Damon that he would never leave his side no matter what.
The cliff-hanger episode has left the viewers asking if Elena's body is completely burnt or the nerve-racking scene was just part of Damon's nightmares. "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 12 airs on February 12, Friday on The CW.
