'Free! Iwatobi Swim Club' Season 3 Renewal Still Not Confirmed; Series Launches DVD Sets For Second Season
Hiroko Utsumi's hit Japanese anime television series "Free! Iwatobi Swim Club" under Kyoto Animation is finally out with a DVD set of all the episodes from season 2. Setting aside the good news, it is still not clear if season 3 will push through this year or not.
Moreover, it was also said that as of now, the plans for pushing another season of the series may not be happening soon as the renewal for season 3 is not even decided yet.
Though the renewal and other details for "Free! Iwatobi Swim Club" season 3 is still yet to be confirmed, fans are at least able to revisit the last season with the 13-episode "Free! Eternal Summer" on Blu-Ray and DVD copies to be distributed in the UK, as announced by Anime Limited.
"So it's finally happening," said Anime Limited President Andrew Partridge. "You have no idea how many people we've spoken to at events and how many messages we've received from fans asking if there's any chance of a release of Free! in the UK."
Patridge added that while he could not detail the plans they have already set for the upcoming release of the "Free! Iwatobi Swim Club" series' DVD and Blu-ray sets, he dished out that a "Collector's Edition" of the series will also come into view.
"Well now the UK will have the chance to get in on the action when we release Free! - Eternal Summer - this coming summer." he said. "It's early days so I can't elaborate on what we have planned, but I can say at this stage we will be releasing a Collector's Edition version of the series."
Both DVD and Blu-ray copies will also have a bonus OAV story and since the release will be first taking place in the UK, fans can get a copy of it via online.
As for the viewers' demand for "Free! Iwatobi Swim Club" season 3, reports claimed that there have been no details announced yet as to when exactly the third season will take place.
