'Godzilla 2' To Reveal New Monsters; Release Date To Take Place In 2018?

Just exactly as what the fans have always expected, following a remarkable success of "Godzilla" movie in 2014, "Godzilla 2" will come into view with a bigger turn of events in store for the upcoming reboot film.

While the much awaited movie is still currently in the works, the release date for "Godzilla 2" is confirmed to take place in 2018. Though it's a pretty long waiting time, the showrunners bid an assurance that the wait will be all worth it for the fans.

Besides the release date confirmantion, it was also claimed that three new monsters, namely Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidora are set to appear in the sequel.

"Warner Bros. and Legendary released Godzilla in May 2014 with an agreement to release Godzilla 2 on June 8, 2018. Both films feature the human Monarch organization," as announced by Legendary.

It added, "Shortly following Legendary's pact with NBC Universal, Legendary acquired rights to additional classic characters from Toho's Godzilla universe, including Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah."

Mothra, a moth-like monster, originally appeared in "Mothra Vs Godzilla" which was released in 1961.

Monster Rodan on the other hand, is a dragon-like creature that could release extremely powerful shockwaves when flying; the ugly beast first came into view in 1956.

King Ghidora is the first villain to appear in the "Godzilla" movie, who made Godzilla into an anti-hero. Prior to it, King Ghidora first appeared in the 1964 film "Ghidora: the Three-Headed Monster."

Though there are only limited spoilers making rounds in the social media, fans are still on the lookout about what's next in the line for "Godzilla 2," especially after the Legendary company confirmed the involvement of Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidora in the next storyline.

Reports added that the decision to produce a sequel of the movie was then finalized, not long after "Godzilla" made a landslide success in the filming industry, making a worldwide earning of $529 million.

"Audiences really responded to Godzilla," Legendary CEO Thomas Tull said. "Today, I'm excited to reveal that film was only the beginning of an epic new entertainment universe."

While it is not clear yet if the announced release date for 2018 will take place as originally planned, "Godzilla 2" might be out earlier or later than expected.
