Ronda Rousey's Mom Throws 'Fraud' Trainer Under The Bus For Her Loss To Holly Holm
After Ronda Rousey suffered her first loss to Holly Holm in November last year, the part-time actress' mom did not contain her words to express her dismay over the fight.
Rousey's mother, AnnMaria De Mars, ripped her daughter's trainer Edmond Tarverdyan for her one and only loss in professional mixed martial arts. The former judo world champion even went on to call him an idiot and a fraud.
"Ronda trained with an idiot. She trained with an idiot and a fraud," De Mars told Submission Radio. "I would be shocked to find out that guy has any record at all."
"As far as I know, I saw him fight once and he fought somebody that had a record of like 6-20 and won on a split decision. The guy is a fraud."
She added, "Ronda has a lot of talent. She came into that gym with a very strong background of training at the Olympic level and it carried her a long way."
Right now, a rematch between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm is on hold as the latter is set to fight Miesha Tate next month.
De Mars said if ever her daughter gets back to training, the first thing she should do is to get rid of Tarverdyan.
"She needs to get away from some egomaniac fraud and be herself," she said. "Ronda as herself can beat anybody on the planet."
"I'm sad about it but you become an adult and make decisions. Sometimes you make mistakes and hopefully you learn from them."
Just recently, Tarverdyan claimed responsibility for Ronda Rousey's loss to Holly Holm. As for De Mars' statement, the trainer said it is "just her opinion" and the MMA fighter knows who he is.
"It's just her opinion. I'm just here to train Ronda and it really doesn't matter," Tarverdyan told TMZ Sports.
"Ronda knows who I am. I am her trainer and that's really about it."
Ronda Rousey is not fight Holly Holm anytime soon but UFC president Dana White promised that the 28-year old will be back in the octagon before the year ends.
