Nikon D500 Specs Detailed; Could It Be The Best Budget Pro DSLR Of Recent Times?
Earlier this month, Nikon Inc. announced the D500, a next-generation DX-format DSLR camera.
Although a successor to the Nikon D 300S, the device has a quite a bit in common with the massively popular Nikon D5 in terms of specs.
Packed with pro-level features that promise superior speed, smooth handling and tremendous processing power inside a compact, lightweight body, Nikon D500 specs are designed to provide photographer optimal performance at a comparatively cheaper cost.
The D500, just like its sibling the D5, comes equipped with Nikon's latest technologies including the extremely fast Multi-CAM 20k 153 AF system and 4k UHD video capture. Not just that, the device also offers Nikon SnapBridge, a fun and easy way to share images with other devices.
"The New Nikon D500 establishes a new era of DX-format performance," Nikon said.
The D500 carries a new 20.9 MP CMOS sensor and Nikon's EXPEED 5 image processing engine.
However, unlike the D5 which has a full-frame body, the D500's specifications are designed for speed and mobility, hence more suitable for sports and wildlife photography.
Nikon itself brags that that the D500's new Nikon 200-500m f5.6E will ensure an amazing experience similar to what the 350 - 750mm lens on the D5 is capable of.
The ISO range on the D500, however, won't be as high as the D5's 3.28 million. But in terms of sensitivity, it still does a pretty amazing job. The native range is 100 to 51,200 which can be further expanded to 50-1,640,000.
The D500 offers a speed of 10 frames per second using the 153-point AF system (yes, the same AF system found on the D5). The frame is filled from side-to-side.
Meanwhile, because of the large buffer, the device can easily store 79 consecutive 14-bit raw shots in burst mode.
Judging by its specs and capabilities, it indeed looks like as if Nikon is leaving no stones unturned to make the D500 the best budget pro DSLR of recent times.
Only time can tell how it fares amidst high expectations from all around in a cut-throat competitive market.
The Nikon D500 will hit store shelves in March 2016.
