News On Exploding Hoverboards Surface As Another Unit Blows Up; Details Released!
Hoverboards are indeed likely to explode every now and then. Here are some of the hoverboard exploding tragedies.
It was recently reported by Mail Online that a hoverboard explosion tragedy almost took the lives of three young children from Bradford, West Yorkshire. It was 13-year-old Jibril Muhammed Faris who saved the lives of those three kids.
On January 16, Jibril had been playing at his friend Tony Chiem (nine-year-old)'s place situated in St.Mary's Drive. Suddenly the hoverboard started smoking before it finally exploded in the living room.
The device was recently plugged into the socket to get charged and once it was unplugged, it started to produce smoke and eventually it caught fire and sooner ripped the entire house.
Jibril dialled 999 immediately and the operators had asked him to cover the bottom of the bedroom door so that the smoke wouldn't enter through it. Upon doing what was advised, he saved the lives of those children. As smoke began to spread through the room, he managed to save his friend's eight-year-old sister Karen Chiem. She had suffered an injury on her foot.
Since smoke didn't let him exit from the front door, he went upstairs. He then saved his friend Tony and in the meanwhile the children's parents had showed up and somehow they all managed to escape through the front door of their house.
"Reports of hoverboard fires starting popping up all over the world, and bans from college campuses, cities and the inventories of major retailers followed" Patrick Kulp of Mashable published an analysis of Exploding Hoverboards, "Indeed, every online compilation of "hoverboard fails" only seems to add to the scooter's appeal as a kind of extreme sport, attractive to adventurous young people who don't mind the marriage of speed and danger"
The Verge published that Amazon has promised to refund the customers who have purchased hoverboards.
"For consumers who purchased a hoverboard from Amazon, they can return the product right now for a full refund," stated Elliot Kaye, Commission Chairman, "I want to commend Amazon for voluntarily stepping up, providing a free remedy and putting customer safety first."
