‘Wonder Woman’ Explores Heroine’s Beginnings As New Trailer Shows Gal Gadot In Fight Scene [VIDEO]
The new trailer for Gal Gadot's "Wonder Woman" was released and it explains what the new movie will be about.
Chief creative officer, Geoff Johns told Kevin Smith in an interview that the "Wonder Woman" movie starring Gal Gadot will lay the groundwork for the Amazon Princess' background.
"[She's] one of the greatest superheroes out there but people don't know her origins like Superman's origin and Batman's origin... so what we want to do in the film is really to tell people who she is, where she comes from, and why she does what she does and we never saw that in film before," he said.
"These Amazons were created to protect man's world, but they have since abandoned it," he added. "And Diana is asking contantly, why don't we do what we're created to do and protect man, and they say because they're not worth it."
Talking about Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Johns said, "She's an Amazon warrior, she's the best fighter in the DC universe. She has strength and speed and she's been training her whole life for war."
Gal Gadot was also interviewed in the trailer for "Wonder Woman" where she said, "We're going to see her coming of age, the entire history, what's her mission."
"Telling a story of this now is pivotal and important - the story of a very powerful woman," Chris Pine, who plays love interest Steve Trevor, added.
According to Bleeding Cool, the first half of "Wonder Woman" will be set on Paradise Island with the Amazons fighting each other.
"An arrival of a man on the island changes that status quo, as he asks the Amazons for help. Not necessarily Steve Trevor either..." it added. "Because when Wonder Woman joins him on his return to the world of Man, we all discover that it is the 1920s. And the film will then show Diana exploring that world - a world where women have only just got the vote - from her... unique perspective."
Gal Gadot's "Wonder Woman" is set for a 2017 release. The Amazon Princess will debut on "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" in the summer of this year.
