Here's everything you need to know about the iOS 9.2.1update:

The latest update rolled out on Tuesday and has turned out to be better than what it initially appeared to be. Apple has emphasized all of the security and privacy issues that the new update has addressed.

The upgrade marks the fifth and latest iOS 9 and the first one of 2016. This was in testing since December 2015 and is now available for all its users.

According to MacRumors, Apple's release note includes security updates.

"This update contains security updates and bug fixes including a fix for an issue that could prevent the completion of app installation when using an MDM server," the entry read.

The iOS 9.2.1 update has finally fixed a specific security flaw that has been reported three years ago (June 2013). This is evident from The Official Skycure Blog post: 'Shared Cookie Stores Bug Fixed in iOS 9.2.1'

According to the Blog, the vulnerability allowed hackers to acquire a user's sensitive information via a public Wi-Fi network, where a victim joins the network and redirecting the device to an HTTP website. The blog also states that this has been the most delayed case when Apple has fixed an issue reported to the company. "This is the longest it has taken Apple to fix a security issue reported by us", Yamir wrote in their blog.

The biggest fix for the security bug detected three years ago by creating a cookie store specifically for these sorts of captive portals.

Another fix by this update is regarding a security issue that used to disrupt app installation on a Mobile Device management server used for administrator-controlled devices.

Memory handling issues were also fixed via this new update. This has added extra privacy and security while visiting a "maliciously crafted website" according to the company.

iOS 9.2.1 update is available for download from the settings menu right away on the devices. And this will be followed by 9.3 which will include new features for better sleep and educational features.
