Benedict Cumberbatch Not Returning To “Sherlock” Season 4 This 2016 Because Of Sophie Hunter?

Many fans of Benedict Cumberbatch have been anticipating his return in "Sherlock" season 4 this year. However, an update said that the detective wouldn't be returning this 2016. Is Benedict Cumberbatch giving up his role and does it have something to do with his wife, Sophie Hunter?

June last year, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter welcomed their first baby, Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch.

"Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son," the couple's spokesman said then, as quoted by Daily Mail.

"We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks."

Is Benedict Cumberbatch taking time off from entertainment projects to focus on his family life?

Amid speculations, PBS confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will indeed comeback in "Sherlock" season 4, but not this year.

"We do have the next 'Sherlock' announced, that is coming up about a year from now," PBS president Paula Kerger told Zap2it.

Is the delay of "Sherlock" season 4 connected with Sophie Hunter? It doesn't seem so. According to PBS, the 2017 release of "Sherlock" season 4 has something to do with Benedict Cumberbatch's busy schedule because of his professional engagements.

"As you know, Benedict has gotten to be somewhat popular since we began our work with him," Kerger jokingly said."And he very much wants to continue with 'Sherlock.' As you know, they are produced almost like films, and we're hoping the next one will be about a year from now."

Cumberbatch's portfolio has indeed grown in the past few years after being cast in "Sherlock."

"He's had some major roles on the big screen, ranging from Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, and Dr. Stephen Strange in Marvel's highly-anticipated Dr. Strange," Cinema Blend wrote.

"He even found the time to clock in some Shakespeare with The Hollow Crown series of adaptations on the BBC."

Despite his busy schedule, the British actor reportedly manages to find time to spend with Sophie Hunter and their baby.
