Cate Blanchett Drops $6 Million For Manor; 'Thor: Ragnarok' 'Villain' Adds More To Properties
Rumored "Thor: Ragnarock" star Cate Blanchett has reportedly bought a historic English Manor in East Sussex worth around $6 million.
The actress, who will most likely play a villain in the said movie, reportedly bought the 19th century 13 acre property along with her husband Andrew Upton, an Australian director and a playwright. The High-well house, which was listed for sale through Knight Frank is located at Crowborough, a town in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England, according to Domain.
"Set on thirteen hectares of lush countryside, the East Sussex home has no less than seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms and five reception rooms (as you do)," noted Harper's Bazaar.
"First built in 1890, the sprawling property also boasts a games room, family room and a greenhouse," the report added.
The property which was up for sale last May was bought by Cate Blanchett at a much cheaper price than initially quoted. The rumored "Thor: Ragnarok" star and Upton swapped the historic English Manor for the impressive waterfront Hunters Hill, Sydney mansion that they sold last year.
"A property website describes it as 'an exceptional country house occupying an elevated position in the much coveted East Sussex countryside'. It sits just three miles outside Crowborough town centre," reported Daily mail.
Though the rumored "Thor: Ragnarok" cast moving to the West makes sense, Cate Blanchett's love for English countryside Mansion is kind of surprising. However, this is just one of the valuable properties of the couple's million dollar asset.
"In 2014, they bought a weekender at Berowra Waters for $1,495,000, and an investment apartment for their children in a waterfront block in Elizabeth Bay for $1.92 million," noted Domain.
"The previous year Upton bought an apartment in Gladesville, near their former home in Hunters Hill, for his mother, Patti, for $780,000. Early last year they bought the city apartment of Wizard founder Mark Bouris in the historic Astor building as their Sydney base," it added.
