Organizers of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games assured that the venue for alpine skiing is all set for an upcoming Olympic test event, as per Yonhap News Agency Wednesday. The organizers said on the same day that they are only waiting for the final inspection which will be conducted by the sport's international federation.

According to the organizing committee, the Jeongseon Alpine Center located in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province is currently undertaking test runs. It added that the venue is geared up to host the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Skiing World Cup slated from February 3 until 7.

"The course itself is 100 percent ready, and we're putting finishing touches on the venue," the organizing committee said in a dispatch. "The final inspection by the FIS is scheduled for next Wednesday, and our preparation will be complete once the FIS issues its international authentication."

Inside The Games reported Wednesday that Olympic Games Executive Director Christophe Dubi cautioned in December that the construction at the venue was on a "very tight timeline" to be finished in order to undergo test events.

Amid concerns about Jeongseon's capacity to stage the Olympic test event, Secretary General Yeo Hyung Koo said these concerns are already in the past.

"We will leave no stones unturned until the last minute to make sure we run a perfect event," Yeo said.

On the other hand, LA Times reported Tuesday that South Korean anti-corruption officials will supervise the expenses on the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. The move is part of their undertaking to eliminate corruption in the country.

Further reports revealed that the organizing committee of the upcoming Winter Games was allegedly given over $4 billion financial assistance from the government.

"Given that a temporarily formed organization will handle the large amount of state funds in a short period of time, irregularities could occur," said Prime Minister Hwang Kyo Ahn.
