LG has announced that it will expand its training program for students. The tech company said during a press release yesterday that it will teach subjects like machinery, electronics and automotive. It will also add more schools and participants to accommodate a bigger number of interested individuals.

The program initially launched in 2012 to help solve high unemployment rate among young people in South Korea. Called 'Tailored Courses for Society', LG only used to provide software lessons at local universities. The government and several institutions have praised the effort, seeing it as a successful means of teaching students practical IT skills. Considering the number of companies depending on tech solutions to survive fierce competition, students will benefit greatly from the training because it'll open up plenty of job opportunities once they graduate.

Completing the program means landing an internship at LG or acquiring a scholarship. They may even get a job offer in the company or in small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), with the tech giant forming a partnership with them. It also has career training programs for entry-level employees. LG CNS, for instance, has trained over 1,000 people employed at partner companies. LG U+ and LG Display will also offer the same program to its partners.

The company will coordinate with previous and current executives as well as professors in the universities where it will conduct the trainings. It will add more schools to the existing10 that are already participating. It will also increase the number of students to more than a hundred each year.

LG will focus particularly on institutions outside Gyeonggi and Seoul. For one, it will offer courses in local universities in North Chungcheong, such as Chungbuk Provincial College. It will also collaborate with SMBs in the province.
