'The Conjuring 2' Trailer: Poltergeist Haunts A British Family In The Movie's Teaser [VIDEO]
"The Conjuring 2" trailer follows Ed and Lorraine Warren to north London to help a single mother and her daughters who are plagued by an unseen entity.
The events that inspired the sequel is based on a real-life case called the "Enfield Haunting." It is one of the Warrens' most famous investigations, and has been adapted previously by filmmakers; most recently with last year's TV miniseries, "The Endfield Haunting."
According to Geek, the paranormal incidents that took place in the Hodgson house in Enfield, England between 1977 and 1979 involved the family's two girls. When word of the haunting spread, local newsmakers came to the house. Some said they witnessed moving chairs and heard demonic voices, while others claimed that they caught one of the daughters banging on the ceiling with a broom to instigate a haunting.
A quick Google search about the case will claim that it was likely staged by one of the haunted daughters, but James Wan's distinct storytelling style, which is apparent in "The Conjuring 2" trailer, is sure to still terrify audiences when it releases this year.
Here's the sequel's official plot summary published by Screen Rant:
"The supernatural thriller brings to the screen another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren," reads the synopsis. "Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits."
The movie features Patrick Wilson ("Insidious, "Watchmen") and Vera Farmiga ("Orphan") returning to their roles as husband and wife paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The supporting cast includes Javier Botet ("Mama"), Simon McBurney ("The Theory of Everything"), Frances O'Connor ("Emmanuel and the Truth About Fishes"), and newcomer Lauren Esposito.
After the release of its hair-rasing trailer, "The Conjuring 2" is set to be out on June 10.
