Oscar winning Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett is reportedly in talks with Marvel bosses as she was allegedly tapped to join the cast of "Thor: Ragnarok." According to rumors, the "Cinderella" star will be one of the film's lead female protagonists.

Cate Blanchett, who recently received Golden Globe and SAG nominations for "Carol," will reportedly be making her debut with a key role from the comic book in "Ragnarok."

While the actress' character is still unknown, it was revealed that other cast and crew members joining the film will be Taika Wait, who will direct the film franchise's third installment, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Mark Ruffalo, who will reprise his role as Hulk. Also returning is Tom Hiddleston as the villain Loki, Variety reported.

Pending Cate Blanchett's confirmation to join "Thor: Ragnarok," the 46 years old actress could not contain her excitement about the possibility of starring in an action-adventure movie.

In an interview with USA Today, as shared by Cinema Blend,  she said, "I would love that. I'd love to get fit and punch people."

The confirmation about Cate Blanchett playing a part in "Thor: Ragnarock" may still take a few months and until then, fans can only speculate about her involvement.

One possibility is her being cast as Valkyrie, a superhero ally, who will most likely be fighting foes alongside the lead protagonist, Thor.

Cate Blanchett has had an amazing year as she already received more than 50 awards and nominations for her latest release, the 1950 romance film entitled "Carol."

Even with her acting accolades, she is definitely not new to super human fantasy films. She has been part of the cast of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogy. As the rumors of Cate Blanchett joining "Thor: Ragnarok" intensifies, she will possibly add the film to her movie credits noted Mail Online.
