NBA trade rumors claim the Los Angeles Lakers are about to make a blockbuster move to get a marquee signing before the trade deadline ends. According to reports, the Purple and Gold team is planning to make a swoop for Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar Derozan.

With the way the Lakers' campaign is going over the past seasons, it is quite expected that they look for a big time player. However, the team's general manager insisted that that is not what they are after as he refuted the ongoing NBA trade rumors claiming they're into a big time signing.

"I suspect that there will be more activity going forward, but I wouldn't suspect a blockbuster deal," he said according to a report by Silver Screen and Roll.

He also insisted that the Los Angeles Lakers' plan for now is to develop their current players and eventually sign complimentary ones, when the right time comes.

"I think if we can develop four or five players going forward that look as if they belong in this league, with all of our financial flexibility going forward we'll be in a position to attract complimentary, or even more than complimentary, players to play with them in free agency," he said.

The Los Angeles Lakers' line up is currently stacked with young and promising players. The team has sophomore Julius Randle, this year's second overall pick D'Angelo Russell, and third year man Jordan Clarkson.

DeMar Derozan's name was dragged into the NBA trade rumors when Toronto Sun hinted that teams will be going after him, including Los Angeles. The player grew up in the area.

However, Derozan was quick to say that his focus is with the Raptors.

"I think I'm just excited for being in Toronto and people really getting a chance to see what Toronto is like," DeRozan told Toronto Sun.

The 26-year old shooting guard has been playing well since last season and could be on his second All-Star Game appearance.
