'Doctor Who' &' 'Sherlock' Crossover Showrunner Steven Moffat's Last Suprise Before Retirement?

'Sherlock' Season 4 Release Date: The new season of the BBC drama Sherlock is set to start filming in spring of 2016 and things might be getting sultry in Arthur Conan Doyle's merry old England. Is it possible that Molly and Lestrade might hook up on Sherlock Season 4?

"I think definitely Lestrade has got the hots for Molly. So maybe they'll develop that. We don't know what happens until we see the scripts, and that could literally be a couple of weeks before you film," Rupert Graves told reporters while promoting ABC's upcoming drama series The Family.

Back in July, Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat also teased about the coming heat.

"He would be on the telephone to Sherlock right away. He can't operate that well without Holmes," Moffat told Collider.

"He's not on the same level as Sherlock, but he's the best of that lot, and I sort of approach him like that. We tried to make sure that he was actually wise. Lestrade absolutely gets it. He gets what Sherlock Holmes can be on a good day, and what he might be on a bad day. That's quite a key character."

BBC recently announced that the holiday special "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride" drew 11.6 million viewers in the United Kingdom alone. The special was also a big hit in America and China.

"After a two year wait, it's incredible to see the indisputable power of Sherlock bringing the nation together to make it the biggest show of the festive season. It's a tribute to the talented team behind this much loved show Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman become bigger global stars, one starts to wonder if we might get a Sherlock movie one day!

'Sherlock' co-creator Mark Gatiss recently told  The Mirror that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, who star as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively, steer the sleuth to the big screen.

"Of course we could do a movie but it would have to be a story of sufficient scale to make that move, because they're already very big, very expensive and very movie-like," Gatiss told The Mirror.

Cast members Cumberbatch, Freeman, Amanda Abbington (Mary Watson), Louise Brealey (Molly Hooper) and Jonathan Aris (Anderson) will return for "Sherlock" Season 4.
