Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun Joins Star-Studded Cast Of Upcoming Drama Series ‘Moon Lovers’
Singer Seohyun will join the star-studded lineup of the upcoming Korean drama series "Moon Lovers." A representative from the drama series confirmed Dec. 5 that the member of Girls' Generation will be featured in the upcoming series.
Seohyun will be joining actor Lee Joon Gi and singer-actress IU for "Moon Lovers," which is expected to begin in September. The star-studded cast also include Byun Baekhyun, Hong Jong Hyun, Ji Soo, Kang Ha Neul and Nam Joo Hyuk.
Korea Joongang Daily reported Thursday that Seohyun will star as the last princess of the Baekje Kingdom, who later became a professional entertainer (gisaeng) in ancient Korea.
"Moon Lovers" serves as Seohyun comeback project in dramas, following her first drama series in 2013 which was "Passionate Love."
Koreaboo reported Wednesday that the upcoming drama series is based on a Chinese novel, titled "Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling by Each Step)."
24-year-old Seohyun started her career as a member of the all-girl group Girls' Generation in 2007 under SM Entertainment. She was the fifth member of the group to be credited as a songwriter after Yuri, Sooyoung, Jessica and Tiffany.
In 2012, Seohyun, along with Taeyeon and Tiffany, formed a subgroup called TTS. The trio released two singles, "Oppa Nappa" and "It's Fantastic," on the same year.
Her acting career took off when she was chosen to be the voice behind the character of Margo in the Korean-language releases of "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2." In 2013, Seohyun formally made her debut in the industry in "Passionate Love," where she played a supporting character.
According to reports, Seohyun will also be joining the castsof musical production "Mamma Mia" as Sophie. Said production is slated to commence this year.
Aside from singing and acting, Seohyun also tried hosting in 2012.
