Colton Haynes and Emily Bett Rickards have been peppered with dating rumors ever since they starred together in the CW's "Arrow."
However, it seems that their relationship isn't as romantic as their fans hoped it to be.
The former "Teen Wolf" star recently commented on rumors about his sexuality.
After years of speculation, he "came out" through Tumblr when he answered a fan's post.
"When I found out Colton Haynes had a secret gay past I got so excited even though I know it makes absolutely no difference in my life," a fan posted on the blog, which Haynes took notice of.
"Was it a secret? Let's all just enjoy life & have no regrets," the actor answered, followed by a series of emojis.
Publications and entertainment sites have been deducing his comments as an admission to being gay.
While several people rejoiced at his answer, others reportedly mourned it. Avid followers of Colton Haynes who ship him with co-star Emily Bett Rickards grew sad at the news.
Both stars have been showing of their very close friendship on social media, travelling and goofing off together. They maintained their friendship even after Haynes left "Arrow," making fans suspect a deeper relationship between them.
They even spent their New Year's Eve together in Miami, along with their other friends.
"Ringin in the New Year with these incredible friends. So thankful to have them all in my life! Time to make 2016 our b*tches! #Miami," Haynes captioned his post on Instagram.
Although he seemed to be giving Rickards special attention, it's not something unusual for the "San Andreas" star.
He's known for showering his friends with affection and gifts. He previously sent his best friend Ally Maki to Paris as a surprise birthday gift for the actress.
He is also known to be close friends with several other female celebrities.
Whether or not Colton Haynes and Emily Bett Rickards did date or not, the actor is getting praises for promoting gender equality.
