"Growing Up Hip Hop" Cast Officially Introduced; Premiere Date Set!
If you're wondering what it is like to grow up on a household of hip hop royalties, then let the cast of "Growing Up Hip Hop" show you.
According to Atlanta Daily World, the new feisty docu-series will focus on the triumphs and distress of six privileged musical offspring who are living up to the fame that are bequeathed to them - all that while trying to live as normal as possible to get out of the shadows of their very successful and iconic parents.
Raised by hip hop icons, the "Growing Up Hip Hop" cast is composed of Angela Simmons, Romeo Miller, Damon "Boogie" Dash, TJ Mizell, Kristinia DeBarge and Egypt Criss. In the show, the six hip hop offspring will have to work hard to gain independence and be made known by their own merits and not just because of their parents.
The show is a concept by created by Angela Simmons, who is also one of the cast members. As the daughter of Joseph Simmons (who is more known as Rev. Run of Run DMC) Angela has already a collection of experience with not just with the hip-hop history but also with reality shows, with her being part of the show "Run's House" on MTV. Angela then thought of creating a show where she can gathered her friends who were also sons and daughters of popular hip-hop artists.
"I didn't want to be on a trashy show," Angela Simmons said, in a post by Radio & TV Talk. "I can't do that to my family name."
"This is a revolution for TV," Master P's son Romeo Miller said. "Everyone in this room will make an impact in a positive way," the artist formerly known as Lil' Romeo added. The season will begin as the group of young professionals is getting ready for a week of high profile parties and events.
