‘American Idol’ Features Kanye West In Final Season; Kim Kardashian Makes Guest Appearance
"American Idol" featured Kanye West in the premiere episode of its final season. ABC News reported about the hip-hop superstar's unexpected participation, which included a guest appearance by his reality star wife, Kim Kardashian.
Judges of "American Idol" were surprised when Kanye West showed up at the hit singing competition's San Francisco auditions in October of last year.
"My name is Kanye and I'm from the south side of Chicago," the 38-year-old rapper told the panel made of Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
"[I'm] originally a producer, I always wanted to rap and no one believed in me," he continued.
Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez poked fun at Kanye West's mock confessional. "Well good luck with all of that," she joked.
Kanye West then went on to perform an acapella version of one of his biggest hits, "Golddigger." As a result, he was given the highly-coveted golden ticket to supposedly advance to the next round.
A report from Stuff detailed how the Grammy-winning artist was accompanied by his famous wife, Kim Kardashian.
At the time of the auditions, the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star was still pregnant with her and Kanye West's second child, Saint West.
The Armenian beauty even played along with host Ryan Seacrest as they waited outside the audition room, where other participants' loved ones get interviewed between turns.
"I'm not really nervous because I do really believe in him," Kim Kardashian said about the "American Idol" audition of Kanye West.
"I didn't give any advice on singing, rapping...I just really believe in him."
E! News reported about how Ryan Seacrest detailed the surprise celebrity audition.
"We were in San Francisco, and they said, 'We've got a contestant that's just going to jump into the line,'" the TV personality said in an interview with Will Marfuggi.
"And up walked Kim and Kanye-Kim pregnant and Kanye enthusiastic and ready to go in there. He walks in there and does a lyric about J.Lo from one of his songs."
Since the video got uploaded with Kanye West in it, "American Idol" got viral, a good way to end the show, fans say.
