Anne Hathaway has been very private about her pregnancy even if the rumors began to circulate in September.

As CNN Entertainment noted, she showed early signs of baby bump around the same time when her film with Robert De Niro was released.

But the 33-year old Anne Hathaway surprised the world by showing off her baby bump in an Instagram post.

She wrote along with the photo, "So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed. I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter :) Wishing you love, light and blessings for the year ahead!"

"Anne Hathaway seems happier and healthier than ever since becoming pregnant with her first child." People magazine commented.

The Instagram photo of Anne Hathaway and her baby bump has already garnered 308,000 likes as of this writing.

Clearly, the Oscar-winning actress did not let the paparazzi triumph.

Vogue noted, "The impromptu announcement was praised not only for its candor-we all use filters but rarely confess to it-but also because Hathaway managed to take back the unveiling of such a personal moment in her life, a rarity for today's famous women. Hathaway, 1; paparazzi, 0."

The pregnancy though may only be the start of Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman's family.

According to Scout, "The actress previously described her family goals to Britain's Daily Telegraph, saying, 'I'll start with one healthy kid but I'd like to have a few naturally and adopt. I gotta get on it, you know? I'd like to have as many as I can afford, not just financially but in terms of time, because you want to make sure each one feels special.'
