'The Conjuring 2' Plot Details Revealed; Images From The Movie Emerge
"The Conjuring 2" plot details and first look photos surface online.
Wan, 38, broke onto the movie scene in 2004 with the psychological-horror "Saw." Since then, he's helmed several blockbusters which includes the budget-horror flick "Insidious" and the massively successful "Furious 7." On the horizon, he will direct Sony's upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular 80's anime series "Robotech," as well as one of WB/ DC Entertainment's tentpole films, "Aquaman."
Currently, he's working on the sequel to "The Conjuring," his most successful horror film to date, which earned $173 million against a $20 million budget and stands third in the highest grossing opening weekend for an R-rated horror movie, according to Screen Rant.
According to EW, "The Conjuring 2's" plot will follow paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren to Enfield, England to help single mother Peggy Hodgson's family, particularly her daughter Janet (Madison Wolfe).
"The haunting that afflicted the Hodgson family is probably one of the most documented paranormal cases in the world," says director James Wan, who visited the Enfield borough where the actual hauntings took place.
Investigative files based on the real-life events have been published by The Committee of Skeptical Inquiry.
"Two of the children, Janet and Johnny, attempted to convince their mother that their beds were unaccountably shaking. The next night brought mysterious knocking sounds and the sliding of a chest of drawers in the girls' room, the article reads. "There were more knockings, and soon Hodgson had a police car making a call to 284 Green Street."
"A female police constable witnessed a chair wobble and slide but could not determine the cause of the movement. 'By the next morning, marbles and Lego toy pieces began to "zoom out of thin air and bounce off the walls.'"
"The Conjuring 2's" plot was revealed right before principal photography commenced in October 2015. Joining Wilson and Farmiga are Frances O'Connor ("Emmanuel and the Truth About Fishes"), Javier Botet ("Mama"), and Simon McBurney ("The Theory of Everything"). Australian newcomer Lauren Esposito has also been added to the cast.
"The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" premieres in theaters on June 10, 2016.
