Ferrari North America Inc. recalled 2016 Califonia T convertibles made this year, over a two-month period due to the risk of a fuel leak in the engine compartment, according to Reuters.

An advisory by the U.S. National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration said in an advisory on their website, that the convertibles produced between Sep. 8 and Nov. 11 may have a low-pressure fuel line that does not connect, as it should to the fuel-pump feed pipe. This creates a fire risk.

Ferrari cited a manufacturing defect made by a supplier on documents submitted to NHTSA.

A little over 50 Ferrari dealers from different cities received a recall notice, asking them to stop saled of the vehicles.

The company has also notified the over 50 dealers by sending them notices to stop selling the said cars. Owners of Ferrari California T convertibles who may be potentially affected were also notified.

Dealers will replace the low-pressure fuel assembly at no cost. The car recall started Dec. 14. The Ferrari California T has a starting price of $231,606, revealed Bloomberg.

Ferrari, owned by Fiat Chrysler Automotives NV also recalled 800 cars over the summer in the United States to fix a problem with its Takata airbags.

Meanwhile, Ford has also recalled some of its vehicles with model year 2013, due to possible cracks in its fuel-delivery unit, which may lead to a fuel leak. Models that were affected included the Ford Explorer, Taurus Police Interceptor, Flex and Taurus Lincoln MKT and MKS.

686 cars are affected. For will notify owners and also will replace defective units free of charge, reported ABC News.

Amidst recalls, Ferrari's two biggest investors have just signed a shareholders pact. This gives them voting power, which totals 50 percent and this keeps a firm grip on the Italian sports car maker.

The carmaker will separate from Fiat Chrysler Automotives next month, ending Chrysler's exclusive control of Ferrari for 30 years, shared The Wall Street Journal.
