Los Angeles Police Shooting Under Scrutiny; Gun Sales Increased!
The recent Los Angeles police shooting has placed the law enforcement under heavy scrutiny as footages of two policemen gunned down an individual, who appeared to be armed with a gun, due to a heightened security, as stated by sources.
The County sheriff of Los Angeles on Sunday displayed a video and photos that showed a man holding a gun just before being fatally shot by deputies in the most recent Los Angeles police shooting related event that has spurred debate with regard to the use of police force, as reported by the LA Times.
The individual was identified as Nicholas Robertson, 28, and was reported to have fired six to seven shots into the air on a residential area in Lynwood before he walked into a busy shopping district on Long Beach Boulevard at around 11 a.m., as stated by the source.
When the deputies arrived at the scene, they located the armed individual in front of a bustling Arco Gas Station, approached the said individual and gave him various orders to relieve the gun, but when he didn't comply, "a deputy-involved shooting" occurred, as reported by ABC News.
As such, the Los Angeles police shooting has placed the law enforcement under the public's eyes, as stated by the source.
"I want to assure the public that the Sherriff's Department takes deputy-involved shootings very seriously and that this investigation will be handled with the utmost professionalism and integrity," Sheriff Jim McDonnel said, courtesy of the source.
"We are working closely with our criminal justice system partners as well as members of the public to put together the most comprehensive and accurate account of exactly what occurred," he added.
"In this modern age of cell phone video and instant analysis on the internet, I would ask that we keep in mind that a thorough and comprehensive investigation is detailed and time intensive," McDonnell said in a statement, courtesy of NBC Los Angeles.
"It will involve, not just one source of information, but numerous sources, potentially including multiple videos, physical evidence and eyewitness accounts," he further added.
As such, security within the state has increased as gun permit applications and activity at firing ranges in the Twin Cities are increasing again, especially after the latest high-profile mass shooting in San Bernardino, as reported by the Star Tribune.
The increase in gun sales is part of a larger trend that spans across the nation, with gun-store owners and gun groups saying that gun sales surged after the occurrence of recent mass shootings, both out of fears of politicians infringing on their Second Amendment Rights, and a desire for self-protection from shooters, as stated by Fox News.
