Microsoft's Xbox One controller wireless adapter for PC is now compatible with Window 7 or 8.1 computers, according to Eurogamer.net.

A few months ago, Microsoft announced that the wireless Xbox One controller can now be used on the PC with its wireless feature through its PC adapter. The only problem was that the PC adapter will only be compatible with PCs that have Windows 10 installed.

The adapter was convenient for gamers who want to use its wireless feature to their advantage. Some gamers do not want tangled wires during gameplay so the PC adapter for the wireless feature to work was advantageous. Many of them though were doubtful with the requirement since some PC gamers only installed Windows 7 or 8.1.

Today, Microsoft has decided to take out that limitation and make the PC adaptor available for PCs with Windows 7 or 8.1 installed, according to Gamespot. The Xbox One controller wireless adapter for PC can be plugged into a PC's USB port and it will allow up to eight Xbox One controllers to connect to a game. Gamers find this convenient for PC gaming purposes or for Xbox One to PC streaming.

Some game sites speculate that the limitation of the PC adaptor of requiring only the Windows 10 was to encourage all PC owners to upgrade to the latest Windows OS.

A tweet from Larry Hryb can be read below announcing the good news.

The feedback from some users and reviewers were positive with the new change, according to Tech Times.

"I picked up an Xbox One controller a few weeks ago and I love it," said Steven Bogos from The Escapist.

He further pointed out that the Xbox One dongle is more advanced than its predecessor, the Xbox 360. He also noted that the wireless feature means more mobility and fun for the player.

The Xbox One controller wireless adapter for the PC has a price tag of $25 in the US.
