Jared Leto Sue TMZ Over Taylor Swift Leaked Video; Did The Rocker Issue A Formal Apology?

Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto is suing entertainment news website TMZ.com for publishing a video of him slamming Taylor Swift, according to Stuff.

A few months back, TMZ published footage of Leto and his bandmate listening to Taylor Swift's hit album, "1989." The actor was heard taking aim at both the record and the Swift, giving harsh comments.

"Oh, I don't like this at all," said the "Dallas Buyers Club" star on the video. "F--k her. I don't give a f--k about her," revealed Vogue UK.

The footage hit the Internet early December, which led to a major backlash from Taylor Swift fans. This prompted him to issue an apology.

The actor took to Twitter and issued a formal apology, reported Billboard.

Leto, who is also "Thirty Seconds To Mars'" founder and frontman, has now directed his anger at TMZ and filed a copyright lawsuit against the website's bosses.

"I have chosen to file this lawsuit not because I want to, but in hopes it will encourage more people to stop trafficking in stolen goods, to follow proper legal procedure and so that it may motivate additional consideration for the harm these acts can create, especially when the only intention is to simply further the bottom line for the companies and corporations that commit these acts," said Leto in a statement published by The Hollywood Reporter.

Half a decade ago, TMZ was also hit by copyright lawsuit over an interview produced by F. Marc Schaffel Productions.

The interview was with Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe and the access was granted through an agreement with the pop superstar himself, releasing Rowe from non-disclosure obligations.

Parts of the tape's unaired footage were published by TMZ and the company was sued. The case later concluded with a settlement. The attorney who represented Schaffel, was Howard King.

King is now representing Jared Leto.
