The first batch of nominees for The 58th Annual Grammy Awards was announced Monday on CBS, according to USA Today.

Fifteen-time "Grammy Award" winner Alicia Keys, revealed the musicians vying in the four General Field categories. These are, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist and Record of the Year.

The Grammys also took to Twitter to share the nominations and reminded fans that the "countdown is on" to next year's awards show.

Nominees like "Slipknot", Fetty Wap and Bruno Mars responded to the announcement by tweeting, "Thank you Grammys!"

Alongside "Death Cab for Cutie" and British singer James Bay, "Slipknot" is nominated for Best Metal Performance and their ".5:The Gray Chapter" is nominated for Best Rock Album.

Lead nominations for the 58th Grammy Awards are, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.

Lamar accumulated 11 nominations, which includes Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Dance Recording for an appearance on "Never Catch Me" by "Flying Lotus" and for Pop Duo Collaboration on Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood," reported CNN.

This year's nominees have some unexpected hopefuls like the Massachusetts band "Highly Suspect," who many have not heard prior the announcement.

The band's debut LP "Mister Asylum" was released in July and did not register on the Billboard 200 but "blipped on Grammy voters' radars," shared Rolling Stone. The trio scored a nomination for Best Rock Album and their song "Lydia" is up for Best Rock Song.

Nominees for Best New Artist are, Sam Hunt, Meghan Trainor, Courtney Barnett, Tori Kelly and James Bay.

Some of the Grammys snubs included artists in the Top 40. During Monday's announcement, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Jason Derulo, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber were left out.

80s icons Prince and Madonna have made huge comebacks this year, Madonna with dance album "Rebel Heart" and Prince's Tidal exclusive, "HITNRUN Phase One." Both did not get any recognition from the Academy.

Drake's hip-hop smash, "Hotline Bling" was not submitted as well for consideration despite being eligible for a nomination.

The complete list of nominations in all 83 categories is at Grammy.com.

The 58th Grammy Awards will return to Los Angeles' Staples Center on Feb. 15, 2016.

The show will be broadcast in high-definition on CBS from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. eastern. No host has been announced.
