Yahoo Messenger app has made its comeback with better functionalities for a fun communication experience.

The Yahoo messenger app introduced new capabilities including the option to sync contacts from the email address' book instead from the user's device. Once a number has been added, the app will figure out the next one to suggest based on frequent exchanged messages.

The app is running on an Iris platform, where their other products will be migrated soon in order to make user sharing functionality efficient.

Yahoo Messenger was initially called Yahoo Pager back in 1998 and has become widely used by people for communication. Due to competitions, the app wentl low profile for quite a while which gave their developers time to revamp the app for the new generation. The company hopes to revolutionize current mobile applications using it, according to Wired.

The messaging app's return was made possible by Cooliris team and their leader, Shoemaker. Its technology was borrowed from 10 companies such as Tumblr for GIF data, Flickr for images and Xobni for its contacts.

Yahoo's Senior VP for communication products, Jeff Bonforte thinks that the Yahoo messenger app's main advantage will be the company's own photo platform, Flickr. It has been integrated into the app to resolve current messaging scenarios that often involves image sharing.

Austin Shoemaker, senior director of product management said that, "In most messaging apps, you have to decide between quality or speed," according to Engadget. In result, Shoemaker made both choices possible.

"The new Yahoo Messenger achieves both speed and quality by streaming photos into the conversation," the statement continued.

Shoemaker explained that once a photo is uploaded it will be stored into the cloud immediately making the images to load faster and will give users a preview of the photo in the conversation. People within the group can like the photos in the messages thread, according to Mashable.

Above all, the app has the "unsend" feature that will give users the ability to delete a message from the thread that they regretted to send. This feature works with GIF, photo and chat messages.

Bonforte also pointed out that Yahoo is not trying to compete with other messaging apps rather trying a new environment for their app to offer more options to a better user experience.

The new Yahoo Messenger is already available for iOS and Android, while the web version will be integrated after a month or later.
