Steven Spielberg: Harrison Ford Will Continue To Play 'Indy;' Details Released!
Steven Spielberg denied rumors that "Indiana Jones" may be played by someone else and assured fans that Harrison Ford will continue to play the part well into his 70s and beyond, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
"I don't think anyone could replace Harrison as 'Indy'," Spielberg said in an interview with Screen International. "It's certainly not my intention to have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played 'Spider-Man' or 'Batman'."
He further added, "There is only going to be one actor playing 'Indiana Jones' and that's Harrison Ford."
The film director's comments silence rumors that another actor, such as Chris Pratt, would play the archaeologist. In 1981, Ford played the original role in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." The actor is now 73 years old.
Even though negative reviews followed "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," Spielberg is still eager to return to the franchise, revealed The Guardian.
"There are more adventures out there than films," he said. "I've got a bullwhip, a fedora, a leather jacket and a man on a horse who knows how to get the job done."
Steven Spielberg said that he would love to shoot the fifth installment of "Indiana Jones," before Ford reaches 80 years old.
Harrison Ford also communicated his inclination to play the character again.
"Yeah, I'd love to do another 'Indiana Jones,'" said Ford in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. "A character that has a history and a potential, kind of a rollicking good movie ride for the audience, Steven Spielberg as a director, what's not to like?"
In March, the actor crash-landed his World War 2 trainer plane on a golf course in Santa Monica. The actor survived and made a full recovery despite suffering serious injuries, reported the Tribune.
Harrison Ford shot to fame in 1977, when he played the role of "Hans Solo" in the first "Star Wars" film.
