Jeon Somi Drops Bold "EXTRA" Concept Photos Ahead of July Comeback
Korean-Canadian pop star Jeon Somi teases dramatic image transformation with edgy new visuals for upcoming single "EXTRA," set to release July 7.
Somi's agency The Black Label unveiled striking concept photos on July 3rd showcasing the singer in armor-inspired gray outfits with platinum blonde hair. The monochromatic aesthetic marks a sharp departure from her previous bright, youthful "high teen" image seen in hits like "Dumb Dumb" and "Fast Forward."
The 24-year-old artist appears to be shedding her signature colorful concepts for a mature, mysterious vibe. Earlier teasers released since June showed Somi with messy hair and a grunge-inspired look, building anticipation for this artistic evolution.
"EXTRA" reunites Somi with The Black Label founder and producer Teddy Park, who has crafted her biggest solo hits including debut single "Birthday" and chart-topper "Fast Forward." Their collaboration continues to define Somi's sound since she joined the YG Entertainment subsidiary in 2018.
The single marks Somi's first release since last August's summer track "Ice Cream," ending an 11-month gap between projects. Her previous major release was the "Game Plan" EP featuring "Fast Forward" in August 2023, which became her highest-charting single at number five on Korean charts.
Accompanying the musical comeback, Somi will launch her "JEON SOMI 2025 FAN MEETING [CHAOS]" tour starting July 19th in Seoul, followed by stops in Tokyo and Osaka. The timing strategically pairs her evolved sound with intimate fan interactions across Asia.
"EXTRA" drops July 7th at 6 PM KST on all streaming platforms, promising to showcase Somi's artistic growth while maintaining the polished production quality that has defined her solo career.
