Former EXO Member Kris Wu Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison for Rape

The Beijing court on Friday has sentenced former EXO member Kris Wu to 13 years in prison for rape and of organizing an orgy. The Canadian-Chinese singer will be deported from China after serving his jail sentence.

Kris Wu was found guilty after raping three drunk women, between the period of November to December of 2020. This gave him the sentence of 11.5 years. "Wu Yi Fan took advantage of three drunk women... in his home," the Chaoyang district court said in a statement. Aside from this, he is also sentenced to one year and five months in prison for a July 2018 incident of organizing an orgy.

Kris Wu has also evaded 170 million yuan ($23,722,143.40 USD) in taxes according to the State Taxation Administration of China. With this, he will be fined 600 million Yuan ($83,725,212.00 USD).  

Born as Wu Yi Fan, Kris Wu debuted as a member of SM Entertainment's boy group EXO in 2012 and was also a member of its subgroup Exo-M. He then left the group in 2014. He was active as a solo artist in China and starred in some of the country's high grossing box office films. He also starred in the 2017 Hollywood movie, XXX: Return of Xander Cage.

He was arrested in July 2021 by the Beijing police in relation to the rape allegations. The Chaoyang District court of Beijing has approved his arrest in relation to this was finally sentenced to 13 years in prison.
