Sandara Park took to social media on May 17 to express her feelings about leaving her longtime agency, YG Entertainment.

Sandara Park and YG Entertainment announced their separation last week, after the termination of their exclusive deal. Sandara Park has been with YG Entertainment since 2004, debuting with 2NE1 in 2009 and continuing with the company until the group disbanded in 2016.

Sandara Park wrote in an Instagram post:

"In 2004, I arrived in a strange Korea with no one to rely on and no knowledge of the nation. YG was my birthplace, my hometown, and the family who raised and educated me. To make a fresh start, I've left the place that has been my rock, my everything.

I fell in love with the cool seniors who seemed to be so hip and joined the "YG tribe," being more than just coworkers but family members. I've somehow spent 17 years with the group, rising and maturing.

Receiving so much attention, seeing so much, and even being on stage with the talented members feels like a fantasy.

All seemed to be falling apart as 2NE1 disbanded.

However, in the five years since, I've experimented with a variety of genres with the attitude of "Let's start from the beginning!" I believe that the previous five years have been a valuable asset to me and are the reason for my current optimism.

My most cherished dream, however, was to return to the stage. I just want to show myself on stage for the Blackjacks [2NE1's fandom name] and the fans who have always loved and supported me. Since I was in the second grade of elementary school, this has been my dream, and it has never changed.

I'm more excited than ever before because I'm in the third stage of my life, which is characterized by new struggles rather than peace.

People, attachment, and the time I've spent with them are more important to me than anything else. The most difficult thing to do is say farewell. Nonetheless, I have taken this significant decision for both myself and others who have been waiting for me to realize my dream.

Finally, I want to see my 2NE1 members, whom I adore and miss dearly, continue to serve in different fields and hope to see them again someday. Congratulations on our 12th wedding anniversary! We wish Dara all the best in her future endeavors!
