Shaman King Anime (2021)

It was announced on the official website of the new "Shaman King" anime that the series will have a total of 52 episodes. Aside from the series airing in Japan and streaming on various anime streaming platforms worldwide, Blu-ray disc boxes are also announced for release. The anime aired its first episode in Japan on Thursday. Video streaming platform Netflix will have the anime available for streaming soon. No dates are given yet as of press time.

Each Blu-ray box of the "Shaman King" anime will contain 13 episodes each. The first two Blu-ray boxes will be released on August 25 and November 24, 2021, in Japan. The third box is slated to be released on February 22, while the fourth box will be on May 25, 2022.

Unlike the first "Shaman King" anime that aired in the early 2000s, the new anime will accurately follow all the 35 volumes of the original manga created by Hiroyuki Takei. Kodansha has started publishing and releasing the manga's print volumes in Japan in June of last year.

The anime's opening theme song "Soul salvation" and ending song "Boku no Yubisaki" are performed by popular Japanese artist Magumi Hayashibara. Hayashibara also sang the opening and ending theme song for the 2001 anime.

The "Shaman King" manga was first released in June 1998 and ended in August 2004. There were 32 volumes originally released, but later on, the complete edition has a total of 35 volumes.

The series follows a shaman named Yoh Asakura who aims to become the Shaman King, the one who is able to contact the Great Spirit and have the ability to reshape the world to what they want. To be able to become the Shaman King, Yoh must participate in the Shaman Fight, a battle held once every 500 years. He has to go against other Shamans like him, including his own fiancée and his estranged twin brother.
