BLACKPINK's Rosé Declared The 1st Female K-Pop Soloist In UK's Official Singles Chart

BLACKPINK Rosé's solo debut track "On The Ground" has been raking views online. Now, the K-Pop artist is making history as the first-ever female soloist in Korean music industry that has landed on the UK's Official Singles Chart. 

K-Pop has reached the shores of the United Kingdom long ago. Based on statistics, a survey asked respondents if they feel Korean music is popular in their country. Approximately 38 percent say it is quite popular in their area.

The song "On The Ground" has entered the UK's Official Singles Chart at number 43 for the week of March 19th to March 25th. 

This historic chart debut is declaring BLACKPINK's Rosé as the first-ever female K-Pop soloist to enter the Official Singles Chart, a music chart that ranks the world's most popular songs in the European country. This chart for United Kingdom music followers has been touted as the equivalent of the Billboard charts in the United States. 

Yet, BLACKPINK has already previously entered the UK's Official Singles Chart, becoming the first K-Pop girl group in the listing. It was their 2018 song "DDU-DU DDU-DU" that made it to the charts. After this, their other songs like "Kill This Love," "Ice Cream," "How You Like That," and "Lovesick Girls" have also been part of the UK's Official Singles Chart. 

BLACKPINK Rosé's "On The Ground" has already garnered over 101 million views on YouTube as of press time and is expected to gather more in the next days or weeks. 

Recently, there were also reports saying K-Pop groups BTS and BLACKPINK are treated like slaves, according to a North Korean website. However, no confirmation about the allegations nor denial has been released by the K-Pop groups or their entertainment agencies, keeping mum on the accusations.
