‘#Scammys’ Trends Online After BTS’ Loss At 2021 Grammy Awards
The well-known Korean group called BTS immediately became the talk of the town on social media after the 2021 Grammy Awards. The boy band failed to bring home the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award from the said competition.
Grammys hailed Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande as the winners for the aforementioned category because of their much-talked-about collaboration for the song titled "Rain on Me." Other nominees were: J. Balvin, Dua Lipa, and Bad Bunny Tainy; Justin Bieber and Quavo; and Taylor Swift and Bon Iver.
Since Sunday evening, the hashtag "Scammys" has been trending on Twitter. Many BTS supporters claim that their idols had been taken advantage of.
"The old men at the #scammys agreeing on using BTS and harry styles for views and then not giving them their much-deserved awards," a fan wrote.
"I should've have seen it coming #Scammys2021 #scammys I got my whole a*s excited just to [see] BTS getting scammed by the Grammys..." another Twitter user expressed.
Prior to the awarding ceremony, many people had expected that the K-Pop group will bring home the bacon since it was also invited to perform for the event.
Meanwhile, a netizen calmly stated on Twitter that a lot of people know how talented BTS is. She even claimed that the group deserves the award more than anyone else.
"Hope you guys know that everyone knows how talented you guys are and how much of an impact y'all have made to the music industry. y'all deserved that award more than anyone and I'm so proud of all 7 of you..." the fan quipped.
Previously, BTS members unhesitatingly stated in an interview that they owe their success as a group to the people who never fail to show support to their endeavors. Jimin also admitted that they became closer to each other amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
