A Texas housing seriously dented by last week's winter storm receives assistance from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, surprised Genesis Women's Shelter & Support in Dallas on Sunday with the new roof of its transitional housing complex and gave relief aid.

Genesis Women's Shelter & Support is an organization that helps individuals who have experienced domestic violence, giving victims in abusive situations a way out.

"We were notified that through the actions of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's nonprofit, Archewell Foundation, Prince Harry and Meghan will make a donation to help us get back on our feet," Jan Langbein, CEO of Genesis Women's Shelter & Support said in a statement.

The children and woman in the shelter were evacuated rapidly, and no one was injured, the report said.

Millions of Texas residents suffered a loss of electricity and water after a deadly record-breaking deep freeze started on February 11.

The shelter CEO said that the money from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would go toward the shelter's immediate emergency response needs.

"In spite of the devastating winter storms here in Texas, our hearts have been warmed by the support and generosity of people from all 50 states and five foreign countries," Langbein added.

For the first time in 35 years, the shelter closed its doors due to the severe storm.

"We can all live a life of service. Service is universal," Harry and Meghan noted regardless of their official roles.

Genesis Women's Shelter & Support is among the charities that Harry and Meghan supported since officially giving up royal duties.

Harry and Meghan wouldn't be returning to their royal roles after reports that they would sit down for Oprah Winfrey's interview.

The couple now lives in California, and they were expecting their second child.
